Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PDFSmiles provides document, OCR, resume, media, design, and automation tools in the browser and in the Android app, plus optional developer APIs. For privacy questions or account deletion, email PDFSmiles@gmail.com (no login required). You can also use the workspace contact form.

2. Information we process

Depending on the module you use, we may process: account details (name, email, password hashes), billing and plan metadata, uploaded files and derived outputs for the duration of a job, usage metrics and feature events, device/browser technical logs, cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy), and API request metadata for authenticated developer traffic.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate and improve the workspace, complete document and conversion jobs you request, authenticate accounts and API tokens, prevent abuse and secure the platform, provide customer support, and meet legal or billing obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Uploaded files & retention

Files you upload are transferred over encrypted connections and processed to complete your requested task. We design workflows for limited retention: temporary processing storage is cleared after the session or job completes, unless you explicitly save content to an account feature (for example saved resumes). API customers may have retention settings defined in their commercial agreement.

5. Sharing

We may share data with infrastructure and payment processors that help us run the service, with advisors when required by law, or with your organization administrators if you use an organization / enterprise account. We do not share your documents for advertising.

6. Security

We use industry-standard transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and secure temporary storage patterns. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please avoid uploading highly sensitive material unless your plan and controls require it.

7. Your choices

You may access or update account profile details in the dashboard, manage optional cookies where a preference control is offered, and request deletion of your account or saved data (see below). Some essential cookies are required for the product to function.

8. Android app (Google Play)

The PDFSmiles app is a WebView shell around PDFSmiles.com plus on-device features. It is not a separate product with a different privacy controller.

• Account & website data. Sign-in, plans, uploads, and tools run on our servers the same way as the website. Traffic uses HTTPS.
• Camera. Used only when you scan a document or pick a capture action. We do not run background camera access. Images you capture stay on the device unless you send them to a website tool (for example OCR).
• Files you choose. The Android app does not request access to your full photo library. If a tool asks for a file, Android’s system picker opens; only the file you select is used.
• On-device vault. Scans and files you save in Files stay in app-private storage on the phone. They are not uploaded unless you open a cloud tool. Biometric lock (fingerprint / face / device PIN) is optional and stays on the device; we do not receive biometric templates.
• Advertising ID. The app does not use the Google Advertising ID and does not show third-party ads.
• Payments. Paid plans are charged through Razorpay checkout on PDFSmiles.com (UPI, cards, netbanking as Razorpay offers). Google Play does not process these payments. Card and UPI credentials are entered in Razorpay’s checkout, not stored by PDFSmiles. We keep billing metadata needed to apply your plan (for example payment id and plan). Opening GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM is only to complete a payment you started.

9. Delete your account or data

Email PDFSmiles@gmail.com from the address on your PDFSmiles account and ask us to delete the account and associated saved data. We will complete deletion within a reasonable time unless we must retain a limited record for tax, fraud, or legal reasons (for example a payment id). On-device scans in the Android Files tab can be deleted in the app; uninstalling the app removes the on-device vault.

10. Children

PDFSmiles is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date above will change when we publish revisions. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
